Great review. I recently bought an Aspire One with the 6 cell battery and get almost 7 hours of battery time. I too am pleased with everything but the touchpad.

my son has one seems to lag on media mp3 and mp4 files?
good review can;t read the screen is to small even with my bifocal lens

update, installed new bios from acer’s website cause flickering wasnt totally dimished.. works better now.. about 98% of it gone. hope it doesnt reappear

i solved the flickering problem by going into control panel, system, advanced, preformance settings, checked adj for best preformance which unchecked all ..then only checked show window conent while dragging and use drop shadows for icon labels..

worked like a charm, no need to adjust brightness

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making the comment about the flickering backlight. I have two Aspire Ones – one for my wife (3-cell, 120GB) and mine (6-cell, 160GB). I’ve noticed the flickering on hers and figured it was damaged/broken. But, after reading your comment, I bumped her brightness from the lowest setting up one notch, and the flickering is gone! This seems to affect only the 3-cells as you pointed out. Saved me a BUNCH of hassle.

Good review! I just ordered 2 Aspire one with 160gb disk and 6cell battery. One for me and one for wife.

@Mickie — you have 3 options that I can think of. 1) on the keyboard, press “Fn” + “F6″ at the same time (this should bring up screen output options), 2) close the screen on the netbook, assuming you don’t have the power options set to have it go into suspend/hibernation when you close the screen, or 3) go to the display properties (ie: right click the desktop -> properties -> settings tab), then select which monitor you wish to use from the display options

how do i hook up a stand alone LCD screen…have connected all wires but don’t know what ‘short cut buttons” to click on the Acer Aspire One to switch over to the NEC screen.

PS..great review…just got this baby and set up wireless mouse, real keyboard and now need the screen.

@Rob: wow, I can’t believe I never noticed the typo! Thanks so much, haha! Good luck on your purchase — Since the writing of this review, the 6 ecll + 160gb version has been release, and I highly recommend it (unless ~2.5hrs batter is fine for you!)

Oh, P.S. If you can you might want to correct the typo in the heading (Asipre), that way it might get picked up better by search engines… it would be a shame if folks were missing this review!
