HowTo – Earn money ($5/mo) with a smartphone and data plan

Did you know that if you have a smartphone (windows mobile, some symbian, or palm) and a data plan, you can make $15 for signing up and $5/month to install a simple, unobtrusive usage statistics program?  I’m sure you may be a bit skeptical, as was I, but I recently got my $15 check!

So I got my $15 check the other day (for first time installation and upload) and am currently on month 3 of 6 towards getting my $30 check (they send checks in 6 month increments):

All you do is install a lightweight program on your phone and it just sends out usage statistics:

The Smart M:Panel software records usage of various mobile phone features – email, web browsing, games, etc. – and securely returns the data to M:Metrics without interfering with the normal use of your phone. The application has no user interface… it’s truly ‘install and forget’!

I just thought this was awesome — it basically pays for 25% of my monthly data plan, haha.   You can either install it through active sync, or from a link they send you through a text message (which is what I did).  You simply install and forget about it.  The only interactive thing you can (and really would even want to) do with the software is open a link which tells you how much data the program used to report your statistics (for those who are not on an unlimited data plan and want to know how many kb it’s using).
